The oil Firing
Technical Association for the Petroleum Industry was launched
in April 1991 to construct the frame - work in which the oil
firing industry of Great Britain and Ireland could operate
with a greater degree of technical expertise.
OFTEC tests and
approves oil-firing equipment and controls a register of
competent operatives. Under Building Regulations and Technical
Document L1, it is a requirement in England and Wakes to have
all new and replacement installations, tanks etc approved by
planning the manufactures may not apply a guarantee if the
installation is not installed by a competent operative.
Self-certification
by the competent person negates the need to apply to planning
for approval and does meet the manufacturer's requirements.
OFTEC is the recognised body for the oil industry.
